OPELOUSAS, LA — The Fourth Annual Louisiana Life Parade will take place on Saturday, June 28th at 6:00 PM, beginning at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse and traveling down Court Street to South City Park. This unique event marks four years of joy-filled celebration since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, proclaiming God’s goodness and the value of life.
Prior to the parade, the Opelousas Pregnancy Center will host a pre-parade festival and butterfly release at 4:00 PM, also located at the courthouse. The public is warmly invited to attend both the festival and the parade.
Why Opelousas? The location was chosen with purpose. Though small and economically challenged, Opelousas was intentionally targeted by one of the state’s most prominent abortion doctors. Now, it stands as a powerful symbol of resistance, renewal, and rejoicing. As parade organizers put it, “We gather on the chosen battleground to pray, sing, be challenged, and celebrate together to advance the kingdom of Christ.”
Far from a somber protest, the Louisiana Life Parade is a joyous, family-friendly procession filled with music, community, gospel proclamation, and celebration. It’s a visible reminder that what we celebrate shapes the culture we create.
“We throw this parade because Roe’s fall is a victory worth celebrating,” said a representative from Christ Church of Acadiana, which organizes the event. “Culture is built by the things we choose to celebrate. And when we celebrate life, publicly and boldly, we help shape a future worth handing down to our children.”
The parade will include floats, music, candy, and a joyful march of hundreds of local citizens. Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to bring their families and join in the celebration, proclaiming that life is worth defending—and worth rejoicing over.
