Elijah McGuire drafted by the New York Jets
Former Ragin’ Cajun running back Elijah McGuire joined the NFL ranks after being drafted in the sixth round by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft in late April.
The selection made him the fourth Cajun drafted since head football coach Mark Hudspeth took over in 2011, joining cornerback Dwight “Bill” Bentley, tight end LaDarius Green and defensive lineman Christian Ringo.
McGuire finished with 4,301 rushing yards over his 4-year tenure and totaled more than 1,000 all-purpose yards each of his 4 years.
Five other Cajuns also signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents.

- Offensive lineman Eddie Gordon signed with the Carolina Panthers
- Quarterback Anthony Jennings signed with the New York Jets

Ragin’ Cajun Lacrosse wins conference, attends National Championships in California
The Ragin’ Cajun Lacrosse team won its second straight conference championship and qualified for the Men’s College Lacrosse Association’s Division II National Championships in Irvine, Calif.
The Cajuns defeated Baylor and UT-Dallas in the Lone Star Alliance Conference Championship and finished the regular season 9-2.
Heading into the 16-team National Championships, the Cajuns were on a nine-game winning streak with their only two losses coming from Appalachian State and LSU early in the season.
The Cajuns entered the National Championships as the 15 seed and lost in the first round to second-seeded Concordia-Irvine.
Softball finishes season with a bang
The Ragin’ Cajuns softball team finished their season on a ten-game winning streak and ranked 14th in the Country.
With a 42-6 overall regular season record, the Cajuns will enter the Sun Belt Conference Championships as the top team in the conference.
Last year the Cajuns season ended after a 2-0 loss against the Oklahoma Sooners in the Super Regionals. The last time the Cajuns made it past the Super Regionals and into the College World Series was in 2014.
