Acadiana’s Eco-Friendly Walking Parade that embraces old Mardi Gras traditions & adds a new spin on the revelry. Krewe de Canailles Parade 2020 will roll Friday, Feb 14, 7:00pm in Downtown Lafayette.
Krewe de Canailles 2020 – Theme: Louisiana Festivals! Inspired by the year-round spirit of the state of Louisiana, krewe members can pay tribute to the countless weekend celebrations of food, wildlife, history and culture that make our state so unique.
We’re putting Mardi Gras back into the hands of the people. Our values are inclusivity, creativity and sustainability to create a Lafayette Mardi Gras experience like no other. Krewe de Canailles is a walking parade comprised of individual sub-krewes. Any group of people can pull together to create a krewe. The only rules are your floats have to be man-powered and your throws eco-friendly.
“Krewe de Canailles is committed to showing love for the city of Lafayette, promoting and providing an outlet of creative expression in the community, and reverence to the historic tradition of walking parades in Louisiana Mardi Gras,” Petersen says. “We do this in an open, inclusive, and earth-conscious manner.”
Krewe de Canailles believes that by doing things this way they will enrich the local Mardi Gras experience for the entire community.
It’s been a resounding success. This year the Krewe and fans of all things canailles will gather on Valentine’s Day to parade through downtown Lafayette and end with a part at Warehouse 535. The theme, “Louisiana Festivals.”
