Dustin Poirier auctioning gear to benefit family of Lafayette police officer
UFC Fight Night 120 Fight Kit bidding already at $5,600
Mixed martial artist Dustin Poirier (22-5 MMA, 14-4 UFC) recently defeated Anthony Pettis (20-7 MMA, 7-6 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night 120 main event. It is arguably the biggest fight of his career. So entertaining, in fact, that the wake of the match has been filled with cries for more.
The only thing bigger than this fighter’s fan base is his heart. In May, the Lafayette native raised enough for more than 3,000 meals for Second Harvest Food Bank.
Now, his fight gear from the match against Pettis will be auctioned on eBay to benefit the widow and children of Lafayette police corporal Michael Middlebrook, the first officer since the 1960s to be killed in the line of duty in Lafayette.
Poirier has gone on record to say that he’ll choose a new cause to raise money for after each fight for the rest of his career. Just like the wicked punches he throws, the proceeds will connect straight with their target.
As of 8:45 p.m. Central time on 11-15-17, the current bid was $5,600. The kit includes gloves, handwraps, shorts, walkout shirt, hat and pants. The auction ends 11-16-17. Click here to see the auction.
