Athletes 4 Tomorrow: Because a Registration Fee Shouldn't Keep a Child Off the Field

National nonprofit helps families cover youth sports registration - 'I Just Want 2 Play'

Athletes 4 Tomorrow, a national 501(c)(3), helps families pay youth sports registration fees - up to $150 per child, twice a year - with a 2027 goal of $600,000 in assistance.

Athletes 4 Tomorrow - I Just Want 2 Play

CARENCRO, La. - Athletes 4 Tomorrow (A4T), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is working to make sure no child misses the chance to play sports because their family can't afford the registration fee.

A4T helps families with the cost of registering their children for community leagues and school sports programs. Assistance can provide up to $150 per child, twice a year. In many communities, $50 to $75 is all it takes to get a kid on the field or court.

A Simple Solution to a Real Barrier

  1. A family applies. A parent or guardian submits an Application for Assistance.
  2. A4T verifies. Eligibility and the approved registration expense are reviewed under program guidelines.
  3. The child gets to play. Approved assistance helps the family complete the registration.

The Need Is Real

According to the Aspen Institute's Project Play State of Play 2025, families reported spending an average of $1,016 on one child's primary sport in 2024, a 46% increase since 2019. The same research found a 20.2-point gap in regular sports participation between youth in households earning under $25K and those earning $100K or more.

The 2027 Goal

A4T's goal for 2027 is to provide $600,000 in registration assistance as part of a broader $1 million funding vision that also supports league and school outreach, technology and the infrastructure needed to reach more families. At an illustrative average award of $75, that could represent approximately 8,000 registration opportunities. Actual assistance varies by approved registration expense.

A4T is building relationships with leagues, schools, businesses and donors across the country so families know there is somewhere to turn when cost becomes the barrier.

How to Help

Individuals, businesses, foundations, leagues and community partners can support the mission through Impact Partner levels of $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 and $7,500, or through major gifts. Donors may support the broader mission or designate giving toward a town or community, region, state or sport.
