Cherie Claire’s Viola Valentine mystery series now in paperback
Award-winning Louisiana novelist, Cherie Claire, has launched a new paranormal mystery series featuring a New Orleans ghost sleuth named Viola Valentine. The books — available at all online bookstores as an ebook download — are now available in paperback.
The Viola Valentine paranormal mystery begins with “A Ghost of a Chance,” in which Viola, a newspaper journalist, leaves her dead-end job, a loveless marriage and an overbearing family after Katrina takes her New Orleans home and she begins life anew in Lafayette. But the storm also blew open a psychic door. Now she sees ghosts who have died by water. As she enters her new career as travel writer, solving mysteries that appear with apparitions everywhere she goes, the one person she hopes to speak to — her daughter who died of leukemia years before — continues to elude her. Or does she?
The second book in the series, “Ghost Town,” takes place in central Louisiana and is based on Cotile Lake.
Claire is a native of New Orleans and the multi-published author of several non-fiction titles about Louisiana (under her real name of Cheré Dastugue Coen) and 10 Louisiana-themed romance novels. She has won numerous awards both as an author and as a journalist. She lives in Lafayette, Louisiana.
She will be moderating the Louisiana Ladies of Mystery and Making the Magical and Supernatural Real in Fiction panels at the Louisiana Book Festival Oct. 28 in Baton Rouge.
