Prioritize yourself to save time and money
Many individuals think style is insignificant. Some have no clue what their personal style is (It can be confusing after all with the constantly changing fashion waters). But it is essential to uncover. Understanding this small piece of yourself will save you tons of time and money – no more spending your precious dollars on clothes you will never wear.
The first step to finding your style is to understand why it’s important. Most people have the tendency to put their own needs on the back burner.
With work, kids, spouses, etc., it’s easy to get lost in the everyday and forget that we need things like exercise, healthy food and a well-rounded wardrobe. Maybe that last one isn’t at the top of your list…but it should be!
What you wear can say a lot about who you are and who you want to be. If your clothing fits well and makes you feel great, you will naturally be more confident and, thus, be more productive in whatever you’re doing (no more worrying if you look appropriate or not).
Next, list out three words that describe you or how you would like to be perceived. For example, do you want to appear approachable or powerful? Feminine or edgy? Classic or fashion-forward?
A simple place to start is your own closet. Pick out your favorite pieces and ask yourself why you love them. Or, if you aren’t crazy about your wardrobe right now, find inspiration in magazines or online. What do these photos have in common?
Now it’s time to put your research to work. When you shop, ask yourself if the pieces you chose reflect those keywords used to describe your style. If not, it’s OK to pass! This trick will come in handy especially to those of us who get wrapped up in sales or shopping for special events.
Uncovering your personal style is not determinate on how many trend-y items you have in your closet. It is about finding items that speak to you, fit your lifestyle and, of course, your beautiful lines. Stick to items that reign true to you, and you will always feel great.
